The Lights Up! unit is fairly easy to install but some problems do
come up from time to time. All the unit are bench tested before being
sent out. To date we have not had a single unit returned because it was
bad or failed. People not wiring them up properly has always been the
problem.
First off the Lights Up! unit is designed so that if it
should even fail, your light will just return to working as it did
before the unit was installed - no delay. So a light that fails to go off
or on is not a problem with the unit but with a switch or the
wiring.
The following are solutions that 99.9999 percent of the time will
fix the problem you might encounter.

The Light Stays On
The good news, you probably installed the Lights Up! right. The problem here
is usually the three way switch is in the "ALWAYS ON"
position. Check the three ways switch, while the door is closed.
That should solve the problem 99-percent of the time.

Light Won't Come On
First off, again check the switch to make sure the switch hasn't
been turn to the "OFF" position. If that doesn't fix
things, assuming you connected all the wires to the right places, 99-percent of the time the
green ground wire is not
getting a good ground. Check this wire and make sure that you passed
the screw through the connection when it was attached. It is easy (I
know because I did it myself) to miss the hole in the ground
connector and think it is grounded, when it fact it isn't.
If the light still does not come on, check the red wire. It is
probably not connected to the right wire.

You have the black and white wires
reversed. Switch them and it should be OK. (Also see
solution)

The Light Doesn't Come On Unless You Turn on the Switch
(Timer Doesn't Work)
|
The red wire provides the power, and the black wire the ground.
Since the light comes on using the switch, those two wires are
attached properly.
That means the problem is in either the green or the white wire.
One or both are probably not making a good contact at the crimps. Try
re-crimping all the wires to make sure they have a good contact.
If these don't fix the problem, go back and check all the
wires to make sure you connected all the wires to the right places and
that they all have good connections. If it still doesn't work, drop us
an email.
