IRVINE, Calif., July 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda has posted a sales increase
for the tenth consecutive month, with the automaker reporting a 12.1 percent
increase in sales for the month of June.  This month's increase was lead by
the company's sporty Protege compact along with the luxurious Milennia sedan.
Both vehicles reported record-setting months in June.
    Overall, Mazda's sales for June are 28,394, and the year-to-date sales
total is 140,888 units.
    "We're pleased that the just-introduced 2002 Protege5 is exceeding our
initial sales projections," said Charlie Hughes, president and CEO of Mazda
North American Operations.  "Protege, Milennia and Tribute all were strong
performers in June."
    June proved to be another impressive month for Mazda's stylish Millenia,
which saw a nearly 180 percent increase in sales from a year ago.  The 177.4
percent increase reflects Millenia's best June ever.  Additionally, the Mazda
Protege enjoyed its best June since 1994, with a 10.4 percent increase in
sales.
    Mazda North American Operations is responsible for the sales and
marketing, customer parts and services support of Mazda vehicles in the United

nationwide.
