Willans Harness Installation for the Miata

1) Start by removing the stock outer lap belt bolts and spacers. Assemble the belt, large washer and flanged spacer on harness eye bolt and reinstall in the original position.

2) Repeat the procedure with the inboard belt on early models with the stock lap belt bolting into the tunnel between the seats. On later models the lap belt bolts to the seat and a 1/2 inch hole must be drilled in the rear of the tunnel for the eye bolt installation.  Drill far enough back and low enough not to restrict the seat travel.

3) Install the inboard eye bolt using the reinforcement plate and the nut supplied in the harness set. Use of a sealant such as silicone under the plate is recommended to prevent water infiltration.

4) Install the spacers removed from the stock lap belt bolts onto the eye bolts and screw them into the harness tabs on M2 bars (bars for '99 & newer models).  On M1 (bars for '90-'97 models) Hard Core and Sport Bars with a harness bar the shoulder harness wraps around the harness bar.

5) To install the double sub belts remove the two front seat mounting bolts. Drill the mounts to 25/64", retap to 7/16 X 20 and install the eye bolts in place of the stock seat mounting bolts.

6) Clips the belt into place.
