I don't know about you, but I hate that rod the Miata comes equipped with to keep the hood open.  I'm always worried that it might slip out and it just plain looks bad.  On top of that - with a Cold Air Induction system, the rod gets jury rigged to make a bad situation even worst. So I started looking.  I didn't think it would take six months  - yes SIX months - but I found a lift that was inexpensive and easy to install. Unlike Hood Supports that are available, our Lift will not suddenly slam the hood down in a sudden gust of wind.  Key Benefits Easier to work under the hood. Installation Information Drill, 3/16 drill bit (to drill only two small holes), socket set (optional - rivet gun). A template is provided so there is no mistaking where the holes are to be drilled. DON'T try to depress the strut while it IS NOT installed. Uses existing hole in firewall for lower mounting bracket. On the '90 model year, you will need to drill a hole in the firewall. On models with ABS brakes - the windshield washer hose must be re-routed to another hole about 2 inches towards the passenger side - very easy to do.
