License Bracket

Mounted bracket on Miata

License Plate Bracket

Save your bumper before it's too late!

For U.S. License
 Plates Only
Often, the first thing a new Miata owner does to their Miata is remove the front license plate. A Miata just doesn't quite look right with it. To make matters worst - the plate holder is located in just the right spot to put two permanent dimples in your bumper if someone, even gently, backs into your Miata. So much for a 5 mph bumper.
So the solution is to remove the license plate - Right?   WRONG!!!
More and more cities and states are requiring the use of front license plates and are cracking down hard on those who don't have them. For instance, in some towns and cities in California it can cost you as much as $50 if you don't have your front license plate installed.
So to solve the problem, a Miata enthusiast came up with an ingenious idea for a license that not only relocated the plate out of harms way - but also folds down as your speed increases.
The result is a front plate that not only meets the requirement to show a front license plate - but also lies almost flat and hardly noticeable when the car is moving. And, if you are looking for a custom plate check out the Knobmeister.

Key Benefits

bulletPrevent dimples in you bumper that can be caused with stock bracket.
bulletDoesn't restrict air flow.
bulletNo need to cut or bend you license plate.
bulletWorks with most grill guards especially the Team Miata grill when properly installed.
bulletMade of zinc coated steel painted with an epoxy paint to last for years.
bulletEasy to install in less than 10 minutes.
bulletDoesn't interfere with grills or fog lights.
bulletWorks on the '99-2000 (but it is off center by 2 inches).
bulletMade of lightweight materials so it will give if struck or hit, thus taking the force and saving your bumper from damage. In most cases it can be bent back into place to look like new.
bulletSome states do not allow swinging license plate brackets. If that is the case in your state we recommend that you use some lock-tite (available at any hardware or auto store) to disable the hinge.
bulletOn the 2001+ models the centering plate is required because it extends the bracket out past the lower lip that was extended in 2001 by Mazda.

This bracket only works with U.S. plates.

How it works!

Installation Information

bulletTwo 10mm sockets/crescent or adjustable wrenches.
bulletUses existing hole for mounting point.
bulletIncludes nut and bolt needed to attach bracket to Miata.
bulletNo drilling!
bullet
We use one existing hole in the mouth. As a result, if the nut and bolt are not tight enough the plate can shift a bit. It was either have that or everyone would have to drill another hole in their Miata. We felt this was a better choice.
