If you are really serious about getting out on the track or that autocross course, then your average seat belt just doesn't do.  Sure it helps to keep you in the seat, but that just doesn't hold you firmly in your seat. Spend much time on the track or autocross course and you'll find that you exert a lot of energy staying in your seat. Even with the seat belt tightly in place, those curves can still really throw you around.

"V" vs "T" sub belts. 

It's all a matter of preference. 

There are two methods of attaching double crotch straps (the lower straps) for a six point harness. "V" type (left in photo) has a single loop through which the crotch strap is passed. The "T" type (right in photo) has two points that the strap passes through.
